Why Train with ATTUNE Academy

At ATTUNE Academy of Sound, we believe professional sound facilitation requires more than learning how to play instruments. It combines musical skill and commitment to practise and developing deep listening skills, nervous system awareness and the ability to work with groups confidently, sensitively and responsibly.

Our training combines hands-on learning with Himalayan singing bowls, gongs, melodic and rhythmic instruments, hardpans and sound structures, alongside facilitation skills, trauma-sensitive principles, nervous system awareness, mindfulness and supportive guided practices like Yoga Nidra.

We explore what current research, professional experience and developing knowledge can tell us about the role of sound in wellbeing—without relying on unsupported claims. We encourage  critical thinking, responsible practice and continuous professional development.

Students learn not only how to play instruments, but how to facilitate safely and responsibly. This includes understanding pacing, sound intensity and group dynamics; adapting sessions to different sensory and individual needs; supporting regulation; and creating meaningful experiences rooted in deep listening, presence and professional practice.

A sound bath is not simply a performance or an event. Holding space for a group begins long before the instruments are set up and continues after participants have gone home. It includes thoughtful planning, clear communication before the event, understanding participants’ needs, health and safety considerations, responsible facilitation and appropriate follow-up. It also means being prepared for unexpected experiences, knowing how to respond and offer support, checking in when someone has had a strong or difficult reaction, and being open to both positive and critical feedback.

Our teaching is practical, experiential and grounded in more than 25 years of combined experience in sound facilitation, music, mindfulness and working with diverse groups in Ireland and internationally.

We remain committed to learning, training and refining our own practice. We draw on respected teachers, current research and years of real-world experience, allowing our teaching to evolve alongside developing knowledge, professional standards and the needs of participants.

Whether you are a beginner, have completed foundational training elsewhere or want to continue your professional development, our pathways are designed to build on your existing experience and help you develop greater confidence in practice.

ATTUNE Academy was created by the facilitators behind Sound Magic Ireland, who have been delivering sound-based experiences since 2010. After 15 years of facilitating sound baths, performing, recording and continuing to learn, I wanted to share not only what I have been taught, but also what experience has taught me—our discoveries, practical insights and mistakes. My intention is to contribute to safer, more inclusive and more professionally facilitated sound experiences for everyone.

I look forward to share my journey with you.

ABOUT ATTUNE

Story behind
ATTUNE Academy OF SOUND

ATTUNE Academy OF SOUND was founded by Kasia Slabon — sound practitioner, musician, mindfulness teacher, and mother of two neurodiverse children.

My interest in trauma-sensitive and nervous system-aware practice comes not only from years of professional work, but also from personal experience. As a mother of two neurodiverse children with my own sensitive nervous system, I know first-hand that relaxation is not always easy or straightforward.

As interest in sound baths grows and more facilitators begin sharing this work, I believe it is increasingly important that sound facilitation is approached with care, professionalism, responsibility, and ongoing development.

I created ATTUNE Academy as a place for grounded, practical, and ongoing learning — where beginners, practitioners, and experienced facilitators can develop confidence, musicality, sensitivity, and professional skills over time.

WHY ATTUNE ?

We chose to name our Academy ATTUNE, because it sits at the heart of everything we teach and practise—as sound bath facilitators, parents, and human beings.

To attune means to listen deeply, tune in, adapt and connect.

At ATTUNE ACADEMY, we believe that sound, presence and attunement work together to create the conditions for deep listening, nervous system regulation and meaningful human connection.

Through sound, silence, awareness and presence, participants are invited to reconnect with themselves, notice what is happening within, and tune into a greater sense of balance, harmony and wellbeing.

TUNE YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM

When you work with sound intentionally, you're affecting nervous system regulation — moving someone from dysregulation toward calm, presence, and parasympathetic activation.

ATTUNE TO OTHERS

Attunement is the ability to be present, responsive, and in harmony with the people you're facilitating. Attunement means noticing what is happening in the room, responding appropriately and creating experiences that feel safe, inclusive and supportive.

ATTUNE TO SOUND

Sound journeys are carefully structured compositions. We teach you to create sound tunes — intentional musical designs that are coherent, engaging, and responsive to your participants' needs.

Learning when to play, when to pause, how to shape a sound journey, and how to listen deeply is just as important as learning how to produce sound.

When sound, presence, and attunement come together — sound waves synchronise nervous systems, your calm presence helps regulate others (co-regulation), deep listening creates psychological safety, and attunement allows real-time adaptation.
